Come September 2008, Singapore will host a leg of the Singapore F1 2008 World Championship race series. The event is the first Singapore F1 street race in the ASEAN region, as well as the first ever night-time event in F1’s history. The addition of an international race like Singapore F1 will add vibrancy and buzz to Singapore’s leisure and sporting scene. There will be first fully lit street race in Formula 1 and as a night race we anticipate it will quickly establish itself as one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races. The Singapore F1 'sstreet circuit will showcase Singapore’s city skyline to international audiences.
The Singapore F1 race event in the September-October window places the Singapore F1 race in the exciting last quarter of the Championship, ensuring maximum interest from the global F1community. In addition, the timing of the night event will ensure that the Singapore F1 can be televised live, will be conveniently enjoyed by the maximum number of European fans, who can Singapore F1 audience pool.
The Singapore F1 will take place on a street circuit of public roads around the Marina Bay area. The Singapore F1 design proposal includes powerful lighting systems that will replicate daylight conditions. For Singapore F1, the most stringent safety protocols will be applied to ensure driver and spectator safety.
Singapore F1 grandstand seating and hospitality areas lining the track will be able to accommodate more than 80,000 spectators. A permanent pit area with deluxe paddock facilities will be built adjacent to the Singapore F1 and Flyer complex.
Singapore F1 gives Singapore a great opportunity to showcase its ability to host a world-class international sporting event as well as to highlight the country’s unique character and attractions to a global audience.
